The earthquakes were ML 2.4 at 06:20:28 PM, ML 2.7 at 06:20:32 PM, and ML 3.1 at 06:20:41. An aftershock, ML 2.0, occurred at 12:13 AM EST September 23.

This earthquake occurred about 5 kilometres northeast of Korumburra, in the same area as the magnitude 4.6 earthquake on March 6. This earthquake has been felt widely throughout the epicentral region and across Melbourne. The aftershock sequence is expected to continue. There have been dozens of aftershocks, the largest since the main event have been two of magnitude 3.0 and one of magnitude 2.7, all of which occurred in the few hours after the main earthquake.

This earthquake occurred about 5km northeast of Korumburra, in the same area as the magnitude 3.7 earthquake on January 12. This earthquake has been felt widely throughout the epicentral region and across Melbourne. A series of aftershocks began after this earthquake and are expected to continue for some days or weeks. To date the largest aftershocks have been a magnitude 3.3 early Saturday morning and a magnitude 3.2 on Monday evening.
Geoscience Australia has deployed a small aftershock monitoring network using Kelunji Echo seismographs, which, in conjunction with data from the SRC earthquake monitoring network, will assist in delineating the fault upon which these earthquakes are occurring.
